Tay's Two Year Check-up

Tay --

Today, we went to see Dr. Morgan for your two year check up.  After we checked in, we hung out in the waiting room until it was your turn.  There was one other little boy in there and you actually shared your Mater and a Mack truck with him.  I've got to say, Daddy and I were pleasantly surprised that there was no "sharing drama."

When they called us back, they had you stand on the scale, so they could take your weight (24.4 pounds).  Then, they took your height (32 inches) and measured how big around your head is.  You are getting to be such a big boy!  I can still remember taking you for your first doctor's appointment.  You were so teeny tiny.  Daddy and I used to have to lay you on the little scale.

The nurse took us back to another room to ask Mama and Daddy some questions about how smart you are.  When she left, you found plenty of ways to occupy yourself until Dr. Morgan came back.  Daddy blew you up a "balloon" and you thought it was hilarious to wear one pink glove, while playing catch with Daddy.

When Dr. Morgan finally came in to check on you, you were still in a good mood.  She let you play with her stethoscope and little hammer.  After you were satisfied with checking all of us out, you let her look at your ears, eyes, and throat and poke around at a few other places.  Before she left, you squeezed Dr. Morgan's neck and gave her some kisses.

Although you didn't have to get any shots today, you did have to get your finger pricked and let me tell you, you weren't very happy about it buddy.  However, being able to pick out a lollipop on the way out, eased your pain a little bit.

We love you buddy!

Happy Fourth of July!

Today, is the Fourth of July.  It's a day that reminds me to be grateful that I live in a free country, thankful to the men and women who give their lives to protect our freedom, and a time to thank God for blessing America and ask that He continues to do so.  It is also a time that makes me think of family, food, and of course, fireworks.

Mom, Dad, Jessie, Patrick, Amanda, and Jeremy all came over to grill out for dinner.  We had sliders, grilled corn, pasta salad, sauteed peppers, and sweet potato fries.  For dessert, we ate watermelon and Jessie made an American flag fruit pizza.

We decided to go and catch the fireworks show in Loganville, but got there in time to only catch the tail end of it.  We weren't quite sure what Taylor would think, but it turned out that he loved them.  He kept jumping up and down and tapping his little toes saying, "Boom!  More booms!"  Hopefully, next year, we will get there in time to see all of the booms!

Happy 4th of July!

Lights. . . Camera. . . Action!

Today, we took Taylor to see his first movie in the movie theater. . . Cars 2.  We went to the AMC in Lawrenceville and decided to try to catch the earliest show they had, so that he would be in a good mood and not fall asleep.

When we first got there, the previews had already started, so I think it freaked him out a little bit to go into a big, dark room, with lots of noise and a huge "tv."  Once Brent came in with a bag of popcorn, Taylor was really liking the whole "movie theater experience."

Considering the movie was almost two hours, he did pretty good for his first time.  It was a movie the whole family could enjoy, but the real fun was getting to watch a movie "through his eyes."

The best part of my day was just being able to hang out with my boys.
