It is hard to believe that my little Tater Tot is fourteen months old today. I feel like it was just yesterday that we were celebrating your 1st birthday with all of our friends and family. . . in the sweltering heat! I am amazed at how much you have grown and all of the amazing things that you are doing now. The love I feel for you is unlike any other that I can describe. You make me (and your Daddy's) hearts feel full and life is so much better with you in our family.
You went from taking your first timid steps (on your real birthday, 6/24/10) to almost a full out sprint. . . at least as close to a sprint as you can get. I love how your little legs can't seem to keep up with your head and your belly! Every time you run I hear the little "twinkle toes" sound from the Flinstones cartoon. You have become our own little "Bam Bam." You are into any and everything you can get your hands on, face in, or climb up.
My absolute favorite thing you are doing now is saying "please." When you try to say the word, it comes out "puh, puh, puh." Any time you want anything, you crease your eyebrows, scrunch up your nose, and say "puh, puh, puh." I have to admit, that at this point, you get almost anything you want when you say that because it is so stinkin' cute. Most of the time, you say it when you want food! What can I say, you are a boy after my own heart!
You love to be outside no matter what the weather is like. When you were 13 months old, you started to let us know when you were ready to go out. You go to the stairs, pick up Bruiser's leash, show it to Daddy or me and then waddle your way over to the door and hold it up high for one of us to come and take. Then you and Bruiser sit there and give us the puppy dog look until we take you boys outside. You are amazed at the things around you and I continue to be in awe of your growing vocabulary.
Although you are my little angel, you know how to throw a tantrum now too! Last week, when we ran into Wal-Mart to get some things for my classroom, you saw a big bin of bouncy balls. When you realized that you weren't getting one, you stuck your legs straight out, made your whole body straighten out, kicked your feet, and proceeded to scream! You calmed down pretty quickly, that is until we rounded the corner and there stood another big bin of giant sized bouncy balls. Needless to say, we were "those people" in the store that day. You know. . . the ones whose kids are screaming and yelling and throwing a fit! Yup, that was us. . . although, you calmed down pretty quickly. We were about to make a quiet exit out of the store until you saw the display of bananas in the fruit section. Bananas are your absolute favorite fruit and you don't ever seem to get tired of eating them. You were so happy when I put some in the buggy. . . that is until you realized you couldn't eat the bananas yet. We finally made it out of the store and got on the road. The ride home was filled with lots of "puh, puh, puhs" and one belly full of banana!
You already have a love for two of my favorite things. . . books and music. I love snuggling on the couch with you at night to read a book. Although you have tons of books, Goodnight Moon continues to be one of your favorites. You also love your "Peep-eye Books" that you get to lift the flap and feel the pictures. It tickles me to see you sitting down on the floor or in your big boy car seat just "reading" out loud and giggling to yourself. You also love music. We sing all of the time. You love some old school favorites like "Pat-a-Cake" and "The Wheels on the Bus," but really love to sing our Bible songs. Singing with you is always fun, but I especially love how your eyes light up in the morning when I scoop you out of bed and sing "You Are My Sunshine." It is the perfect way to start a new day!
Right now, you are really into Sid the Science Kid and any other show that has lots of songs. We watch it in the mornings when we are getting ready to go to Miss Robin's house. You crack me up when you start to dance during the songs. You twist your waist and swing your arms from side to side. Your signature dance is when you stand up and squat your little butt up and down while slapping your legs. You will usually humor me with one of the two when I sing "Do your dance Tater Tot, do your dance!"
My sweet Taylor, you are an amazing gift from God! One that your Daddy and I thank Him for every day!
